My Name is Lori Holder

I Am Here to Listen

We all struggle at times; I’m here to listen and to help. If you have wrestled with finding peace while living life with a mental health disorder, I’ve got you. Because I’ve been there! I have been successful in experiencing a sense of inner peace in my own recovery process. I have helped countless others experiencing similar situations through developing relationships built on trust, understanding, respect, and empowerment.

Talk to someone who truly understands when the battles in your mind seem to have grown into an all-out war. Do you feel that peace of mind is beyond your grasp? Let me assure you that achieving improved mental health and life skills are within your reach! Together, we will explore the root causes of your emotional distress, which often result in self-esteem issues, difficulties with focus and concentration, problems in our personal and professional relationships, along with ineffective coping skills. The path forward to better mental health begins with a single step. I Am Here To Listen. Take that first step.

About My Qualifications

Over 11+ Years of Personal Experience

Hello, my Brain Related friends…

Many times, in life we get stuck. Stuck in our past, in jobs, in toxic relationships, or simply in our own heads. But we can move forward by gaining our own personal freedom. We can move past what is holding us back in our minds. One day forward at a time.

If you are stuck, there are those that understand where I have been because you have or are going through the same things. I invite you to join in the power of peer support and being able to speak with others without judgment by meeting you where you are in the recovery process from mental health challenges. You are not alone, and there is support! We truly are stronger together.

If you have struggled with living life with a mental health disorder, I’ve been there! I have been successful in the recovery process and want to help others experiencing similar situations through understanding, respect, and empowerment. For most of my life I have lived with Bipolar II, Generalized Anxiety Disorder with Panic Attacks, Depression, and PTSD from trauma and toxic relationships. I also have members of my inner circle who also live with various life challenges. I live on both sides of the mental health journey.

I received my certification from UNC-Chapel Hill in Peer Support in 2014. However, I have been listening to others and sharing my own experiences along the way. I have rebuilt my life several times and explored the question of “who am I” and “why am and I here” multiple times through life. I try to live by the motto of “Living Life Forward”. My experiences in life have led me down many roads. Those roads taught me about loving myself, setting boundaries and valuing my own life to bring a new calm to my world.

There is hope even when your brain tells you there isn’t.

More about WRAP

What is WRAP?

Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP)

As a trained and certified facilitator of WRAP, I can work with individuals one-to-one or in a group setting. I am certified through the Advocacy of Human Potential (AHP) as a trained facilitator and am able to provide continuing education credits for completed training.

A WRAP® can help you in the process of recovery, getting well, staying well, and becoming who you want to be. It can help you make your life the way you want it to be in any area of your life. It can also be helpful to you in adapting to any challenges you have in your life. A WRAP® is a self-directed plan, a self-tailored plan anyone can use as a personal guide to daily living. It focuses on self-help, recovery, and long-term stability. People in recovery created WRAP®.

A WRAP® begins with a Wellness Toolbox, filled with simple, safe ideas to help you feel good, stay well, and even feel better when the going is hard. Using these wellness tools, a WRAP® can also guide you through a process of identifying:

  • What are you like at your best.
  • What you need to do every day to stay well.
  •  Things that may upset you (triggers) and what you can do if these things happen.
  • Early warning signs that you are not feeling well and things you can do to help yourself feel better.
  • Signs that things are getting worse and things you and/or your supporters can do to help you feel better.
  •  Signs that you may be experiencing a crisis and things your supporters can do in that situation.
  • What to do after a crisis has ended to help you recover your wellness.

What led me to Lori H for support? I did research on many counseling platforms. I had never tried group meetings. Probably hard to believe I never tried a group since I had been diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder over 15 years ago. I knew it benefited many people but what could it offer me I wondered? I was fortunate to have found Lori on HeyPeer’s platform. I was impressed with how open she was in her bio about her own challenges which inspired her to go into peer support. Plus, her education was received at one of them top universities in the country. I took a chance… And within that first group session the benefit of attending Lori’s expertly led meetings put me at ease. I realized how much sharing experiences with other diverse people was already having a positive effect on my mood and sense of self. A missing piece in the puzzle that I never grasped would be such a positive in my mental health journey to wellness. I have had multiple meetings with Lori during times that I felt I needed to go deeper. Especially in times of job stress and health crises. And during these one-hour sessions, I have gained tremendous Insight into problem-solving. Skills learned from her has carried me in a positive direction in many different areas along my path to my own wellness. I am pleased to recommend Lori H. as an outstanding peer specialist and group leader.
